The incident occurred on June 16. At around 8:00 p.m., the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra was informed by a woman from Jelenia Góra that an intoxicated man was running along the street with an axe and threatening his neighbors with death.
When the victim informed the 56-year-old that uniformed officers would arrive shortly, he fled. The woman provided a description of him. Officers detained him several streets away.
The 56-year-old was taken to police custody to sober up and for further proceedings. At the time of his detention, he had more than 2‰ of alcohol in his system. He faces up to two years in prison.
