The incident took place on the night of 13–14 June. At approximately 12:30 a.m., the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra received a report from a woman who said that her son intended to take his own life by jumping from the roof of a three-storey building.
The police officer immediately dispatched a patrol there and notified the fire service and emergency medical services.
At the scene, officers noticed a young man sitting on the edge of the roof. He threatened to jump if anyone approached him. However, a police negotiator managed to establish contact with the desperate man. After speaking with the police officer, the man abandoned his intention.
It turned out that the 25-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra was drunk. A test for alcohol in his system showed more than 1 per mille. The man was taken into police custody.
