The settlement will be organized by the Association of Re-emigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends. This project is co-financed by the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

Competition for the Best Pita and Balkan Cauldron Dish

Residents and visitors will have the opportunity to try Balkan cuisine specialties: traditional pita with spicy and savory fillings, as well as goulash and pepper soups. Once again, a culinary competition will be held for the best pita and Balkan cauldron dish.

European Commission Funds the Balkan Culture Festival Catalogue

The organizer will present an exhibition of memorabilia belonging to the re-emigrants. The European Commission will also have its own stand. The Regional Representation of the European Commission in Poland has once again joined the group organizing the festival in Bolesławiec. As part of the cooperation, it will, among other things, finance the design and printing of 1,000 event brochures at a cost of PLN 7,000.

The publication will contain information about local folklore groups, rural homemakers’ circles and associations that will present the culture of the countries of the former Yugoslavia during the event, including traditional dishes, music and dances. It will also include the detailed event programme and information about the groups that will add splendour to the event. The publication will be distributed free of charge to interested festival participants.

A Colourful Parade of Folklore Groups

In the afternoon, a colourful parade of folklore groups will take place, marking the official opening of the festival by the Mayor of Bolesławiec. During the opening, we will dance Kolo together—a traditional folk dance popular in the Balkans. On stage, local folklore groups and invited guests will present the folklore of the South Slavic countries through dances, music and singing.

Great Folk Concerts

The festival will feature the colourful international group Balkan Folk Acoustic, founded by a Bulgarian accordion virtuoso. The group performs Balkan folk and dance music based on traditional folk songs and distinctive rhythms.

The festival will conclude with a concert by Still Band from Croatia. The group has extensive experience and a very broad repertoire, including the music of the 1980s, for which it is best known. It is one of the most popular club bands in Osijek.
