The “The Forest Is Closer to Us” competition was a summary of forestry education workshops held with Nadleśnictwo Bolesławiec on the grounds of the forest nursery in Osieczów. The workshops were attended by second-grade pupils from Bolesławiec primary schools.

The competition winners were:

  5. Maja Wójcik (Primary School No. 4), Wojciech Krzywdziński (Primary School No. 2).

The art competition “Butterflies, Bees, Ladybirds... Insects from Our Meadow” was aimed at children attending municipal kindergartens. Participants were asked to independently create an A4-format work using paints, pastels, crayons or coloured paper.

The following participants took first place in the competition: Jagoda Zagdańska (6 years old, MPP No. 6), Natalia Laskowska (5 years old, MPP No. 1), Ksawery Kozioł (5 years old, MPP No. 1), Zuzanna Jarosz (5 years old, MPP No. 1), Amelia Fila (5 years old, MPP No. 1), Hanna Kurzydło (5 years old, MPP No. 1), Zuzanna Russ (6 years old, MPP No. 2), Olga Pietruszka (5 years old, MPP No. 3 branch).

The competition committee also awarded 22 equal distinctions. They went to: Joanna Żurawek (4 years old), Lena Zatylny (4 years old), Nikola Skrzypecka (5 years old), Amelia Grum (5 years old), Adrian Silbert (5 years old), Oliwia Durtka (6 years old), Amelia Sztandera (6 years old), Ala Pawlikowska (6 years old), Antoni Sroka (6 years old), Dominik Kiełbowicz (6 years old), Maja Mączka (5 years old), Natalia Kuśmierz (3 years old), Amanda Kaczmarek (4 years old), Marysia Kowalczyk (5 years old), Marysia Kołodziej (5 years old), Piotr Paduch (5 years old), Amelia Klessa (5 years old), Nikodem Gołąb (5 years old), Milena Hołot (5 years old), Lena Ganowska (6 years old), Malwina Cisło (5 years old), Karolina Jasińska (5 years old).

The “There’s a Way to Deal with Batteries Too” competition concerned the selective collection of used batteries and was aimed at preschool children as well as primary and lower-secondary school pupils in Bolesławiec. Participants were tasked with collecting as many used batteries as possible. The competition involved 15 preschool groups and 47 classes from Bolesławiec primary and lower-secondary schools—in total, 1,592 people, who competed in two categories from February 1 to May 18: preschools, and primary and lower-secondary schools.

In the preschool category, first place went to Group III from Municipal Public Kindergarten No. 7, which collected 440 kg of used batteries. Group Captain Hook from the Nibylandia Non-Public Kindergarten came second with 346.5 kg, while Group III from Municipal Public Kindergarten No. 5 came third, collecting 142 kg.

In the primary and lower-secondary school category, first place went to Class I D from Primary School No. 4, which collected 243 kg of used batteries. Class III C from Primary School No. 4 came second with 169 kg, while Class II C from Oxpress Primary School came third with 117.5 kg.

Prizes in this year’s edition of the competition are co-financed by the Wrocław Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the Municipal Communal Services Company and the Municipal Housing Management Company. In the primary and lower-secondary school category, prizes include trips to the Wrocław Zoological Garden for first and second place, and cinema tickets for the film “Finding Dory” for third place. In the preschool category, prizes include trips to the Wrocław Zoological Garden or the Kepler Science Centre in Zielona Góra for first and second place, and cinema tickets for the film “The Angry Birds Movie” for third place.

During the competition, participants collected a total of 2540 kg of used batteries, which were sent for recycling through the Municipal Communal Services Company.
