An outraged reader contacted our editorial office. The reader wrote about an alleged incident during the Chrobry Nowogrodziec–Victoria Ruszów match. The match between the A-class teams took place on June 5 in Nowogrodziec. According to the outraged reader, a racist incident targeting a dark-skinned Victoria Ruszów footballer occurred during the game. In the correspondence, the reader wrote, among other things:

(…) Last Sunday, a player from Chrobry Nowogrodziec shouted “get up, n****r” at a dark-skinned player who was lying on the ground. Everyone heard it, and apart from the exemplary conduct of the opposing team’s coach, nobody even reacted—not the referee, nor anyone from Chrobry’s staff. This was not the first case in which, during a match attended by the public, including children, players of a different complexion were humiliated and insulted by the Chrobry team managed by the Municipal Guard Officer (...)

We contacted Chrobry Nowogrodziec President Edward Widuch about the matter. The president admitted that he had been at the match but had heard nothing of the kind and knew nothing about the incident described by the reader. He also stated that nobody had reported anything like that to him. In addition, the president of the Nowogrodziec team noted that after the match he had spoken with Victoria’s president and team manager, and that everyone had left after the game in a peaceful mood, without any grievances toward one another.

Meanwhile, Andrzej Kowal, President of the Jelenia Góra District Football Association, stated that if the match referee did not describe such behavior in the post-match report—as the reader claims occurred—the matter can be submitted in writing to the Disciplinary Commission of the Jelenia Góra District Football Association. Proceedings would then be initiated. The District Football Association president emphasized that he does not tolerate such behavior, but that evidence is required to initiate proceedings. According to information we obtained, the referee did not record a racist incident in the report following the Chrobry Nowogrodziec–Victoria Ruszów match.
