The incident occurred at night in Legnica County. Police officers attempted to stop a passenger car for a traffic check. The driver then accelerated sharply and began fleeing toward Legnica. The officers notified the Legnica police about the situation, and together they stopped the vehicle at the entrance to the city.

Two men were traveling in the car, and both were detained. One was a 40-year-old resident of Legnica, while the other was a 37-year-old from Bolesławiec. Both the Legnica resident and the man from Bolesławiec had previously been in conflict with the law.

The car driven by the 40- and 37-year-olds had been stolen several hours earlier in Legnica. The perpetrators watched the vehicle’s owner and tried to persuade him to buy them beer. When he refused, one of the attackers hit him in the face, while the other took his credit card and car key from his pocket. The men then stole the car and drove it toward Złotoryja.

It is also worth noting that officers found stolen car radios and satellite navigation devices in the 40-year-old’s apartment.

Both detainees now face up to 12 years in prison.
