The Ferajna Dance Group operates at the Municipal Seniors’ Club in Zgorzelec. It consists of seniors who attend dance classes, which five years ago were added to the programme of free physical-activity classes for residents aged 55 and over.

They began with a polonaise, which they performed to welcome a group of French friends from Avion in 2011. It was then that the instructor suggested creating a dance group, seeing that the regular attendees of the club’s dance classes had a passion for dancing and enjoyed having fun. Since then, as the Ferajna Dance Group, they have devoted themselves to their passion for dance with smiles and almost unlimited imagination, recalling and popularising the so-called urban folklore. Their main repertoire consists of polkas, waltzes, steyrisch dances, kujawiaks and tangos, but they have also tried their hand at jive, rock and roll and the English waltz.

Colourful costumes and growing confidence on stage are assets that help them easily win the sympathy of audiences of all ages. The award they brought back from Wrocław is their first prize at the regional level, but not the first recognition of their skills, because practically every performance or show prepared by the group is a success.

Most importantly, however, they are simply having a great time, as anyone
who accepts the invitation to Ferajna’s fifth-anniversary benefit celebration, open to the public, will be able to see. It will take place on 3 June at 4:00 p.m. at the Municipal Cultural Centre.
