Staff Sergeant Beata Borowicz from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław, the initiator of the “Grandma, Grandpa, Don’t Let Yourself Be Scammed” campaign:
As the police, we have been fighting for years against criminals who exploit seniors’ naivety, and above all their loneliness. It would be difficult for us to reach every home and visit every elderly person. But every grandmother and every grandfather has a grandchild. And it is precisely these young people who are to reach their grandfathers and grandmothers.
She added: “I hope that today’s performances by our children will make you more alert and careful.”
Everyone gathered in the hall of the Orzeł Cultural Integration Centre, including the young performers’ grandmothers and grandfathers, had the opportunity to watch educational and preventive programs prepared by students from five schools in Bolesławiec County: Primary School No. 1, Primary School No. 2, the school in Brzeźnik (Bolesławiec municipality), Lower Secondary School No. 2 and the Construction School Complex.
The audience could see, among other things, two adaptations of the fairy tale about Little Red Riding Hood (the version performed by the students from “number two” featured Green Riding Hood) and a performance by rapper Patryk from the Construction School Complex.
“The Provincial Police Headquarters initiated all of these activities, and we, as county police headquarters, joined the campaign,” says “ii” Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec police.
Uniformed officers from the Provincial Police Headquarters will evaluate presentations from all Lower Silesian counties. The main prize is a performance at the Capitol music theatre in Wrocław.
