The Istotne.pl Portal, publisher of Grażyna Hanaf’s therapeutic fairy tales, promoted the campaign of the Zbigniew Religa Foundation for the Development of Cardiac Surgery under the slogan “buy something delicious, do something good”. We advertised the sale of a limited edition of wafers covered in delicious milk chocolate and featuring the image of the friendly bee Maja. They were available at Żabka and Freshmarket stores, which joined the effort to help the Foundation raise funds for work on the project to build the first Polish family of heart prostheses for children.
The children enjoyed these treats after meeting with Grażyna Hanaf, who held therapeutic workshops about fear and anxiety in the school library. She explained to the children the mechanism and role that fear plays in life and, most importantly, how they can cope with it. The children themselves had the best ideas for dealing with anxiety. The workshops took the form of bibliotherapy and art classes. The author read the children an excerpt from her book “The Box Girl”, a story about a girl who spent most of her life in a wooden box because she was terribly afraid of the world around her. The children then painted their fears on large sheets of kraft paper so that they could share and confront them in this way. The children participated in the classes with great attention and interest, and spoke openly about their feelings concerning fear and anxiety. The author of “The Box Girl” was invited to the school by acting principal Bożena Oleksiuk-Rokoszna. The class was held in the school library, where Elżbieta Szczegodzińska works, and was organized by Polish teacher Małgorzata sacher.
Primary School No. 3 invites you
The library is one of the children’s favorite places at school. They visit it during breaks and use its extensive collection of books. They also take part in many excellent initiatives promoting reading. In January this year, one of the larger events was held under the title “A book is like a garden carried in your pocket.” First-grade pupils at Primary School No. 3 were inducted as Readers. The first-graders were given a lovely surprise. As soon as they arrived at school, they were taken to the library, where a big surprise awaited them. It turned out that dwarfs lived among the bookshelves and, together with Ms. Ela, inducted all the pupils present as Readers. The dwarfs—sixth-grade pupils from class 6a—explained how to handle books, helped the children choose books to read and gave each child a bookmark. The first-graders were introduced to the world of books by Ms. Ela Szczegodzińska and Małgorzata Sacher, together with pupils Kasia Ciesiółka, Piotrek Bachór, Natalka Wołyniak, Natalka Niezgoda, Mateusz Kluwak, Justyna Michalczuk, Lila Susz, Ida Paluszczyszyn and Wiktoria Maculewicz.
Primary School No. 3 students best in German
Students of Primary School No. 3 took first place in the “Spaβ mit Deutsch” German-language competition! In April this year, the Municipal School Complex No. 3 hosted the fourth edition of the “Spaβ mit Deutsch” German-language competition. The competition was intended for fifth- and sixth-grade primary school pupils and aimed to develop key language skills—listening, speaking, reading and writing—as well as broaden their knowledge of German-speaking countries. Katarzyna Ciesiółka, Natalia Rzatkiewa and Weronika Zdunek, sixth-grade pupils under the supervision of Adrian Banyś and Agnieszka Markowicz, stood on the podium. This was already the second victory in the history of the competition for the Primary School No. 3 team.
