The issue of candidates for the Social Council of the Independent Public Healthcare Institution in Bolesławiec had been controversial from the outset. Coalition councillors were not particularly keen on seeing Krzysztof Konopka of Ziemia Bolesławiecka on the Council. During the vote, however, they lost concentration and elected him to the Council (no one voted against Konopka, most councillors abstained, while his fellow club members voted in favour). After this, a recess was called, after which a new vote was supposed to take place. Councillor Krzysztof Konopka, however, resigned from participation in the Social Council himself. Ultimately, the SP ZOZ Council will consist of: Wanda Abram, Dominik Chodyra, Dariusz Pawliszczy, Robert Marek Relich, Bogusław Kuziej, Ewa Zarzycka, Jarosław Molenda, Jadwiga Bobek and Karol Stasik.

During the session, Urszula Fuchs, director of SP ZOZ, who presented the County Council with a report on the activities of the Healthcare Institution, responded at the request of councillor Jadwiga Bobek to information reported by TVN24 on Monday. The television station reported that a patient in Bolesławiec had been given an injection of Zinacef, an antibiotic that had been withdrawn from sale. Urszula Fuchs assured the council that this allegation was untrue, as the medicine had been replaced. TVN24 subsequently withdrew this information.

The guest at the sixth session of the Bolesławiec County Council was Rev. Dean Andrzej Jarosiewicz from the Shrine of the Assumption of the Mother of the Church and St Nicholas. The priest received a cheque for PLN 1,340 from Karol Stasik. The money came from contributions by the councillors and is to be used to make a statue of St Florian, the saint who protects against fires and the patron saint of firefighters. The idea for creating the sculpture came from firefighters from Bolesławiec County, who wanted in this way to commemorate their many years of work, during which there had been no fatalities. The statue of St Florian will be carved in wood by the renowned artist Andrzej Walijewski.

During Thursday’s session, the councillors also adopted a resolution concerning informing the County Secretary and Treasurer of the obligation to submit lustration declarations. In addition, all councillors born before 1 August 1972 will have to submit similar declarations. Each of them will be notified by post by the Lower Silesian Voivode of this obligation. From the date they receive the letter from the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office, the councillors will have 30 days to submit the relevant document.
