Thanks to his outstanding abilities, Józef Ignacy Schnabel became known as a composer of many unforgettable works, which were used, among other occasions, during religious ceremonies. The number of works created by the artist is impressive, while their simplicity enabled an exceptional form of expression. Through its commitment to the development of classical music, which in a sense became a symbol of the composer’s work in Lower Silesia, we have the opportunity each year to learn more about the Festival’s patron. This enhances our awareness and knowledge of the echoes of the past associated with the Nowogrodziec municipality.

This year’s Festival will feature many events showcasing a high artistic standard. The event will be inaugurated on May 20 at the parish church of Saints Peter and Paul in Nowogrodziec.

Birgit Wildeman, an outstanding artist from Germany, will perform an organ recital, during which she will play her own compositions as well as a work by Józef Ignacy Schnabel.

The following day of the event will be enriched by Alexey Arkhipovsky. The maestro is renowned in musical circles as a creator of extraordinary artistry associated with playing the balalaika.

The event will conclude with a final concert performed by the Wratislavia Chamber Orchestra together with violinist Jan Stanienda. The invited guests will perform an interpretation of the extremely popular symphony “The Four Seasons,” taking us toward the intricate work of the great composer Antonio Vivaldi.

As part of the musical celebration, there will also be a knowledge competition about the life of the event’s patron and the history of the International Music Festival “Music at Józef Ignacy Schnabel’s,” intended for primary- and lower-secondary-school students from the Nowogrodziec municipality.

We warmly encourage you to attend the Festival, whose diverse program will satisfy even the most discerning connoisseurs and provide an opportunity to discover an offering reflecting Nowogrodziec’s musical traditions. Admission to all concerts is free. More information is available on the website of the organizer, the Municipal Cultural and Sports Centre.

The Festival is held under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage; Lower Silesian Voivode Piotr Hreniak; Consul General of Germany in Wrocław Elisabeth Wolbers; His Magnificence Professor Krystian Kiełb, Rector of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław; His Excellency Dr. habil. Zbigniew Kiernikowski, Bishop of Legnica; and Mayor of Nowogrodziec Robert Relich. The organizer reserves the right to make changes to the Festival program.
