Officers from the District Police Headquarters in Lubin, concerned with the safety of older people, conduct numerous preventive campaigns aimed at increasing seniors’ vigilance and raising their awareness of the real threat posed by scammers. Unfortunately, cases still occur in which older people are defrauded and often hand over their life savings to criminals.

In March, at the Muza Cultural Centre in Lubin, children and young people from Lubin schools and preschools prepared theatrical performances on the theme “Grandma, Grandpa, Don’t Let Yourself Be Scammed.” This form of communication was very positively received by the senior citizens. As they said after watching the performances, the scenes presented by the children reached their hearts and awareness more strongly than the written appeals issued by various institutions.

In May 2016, further meetings with senior citizens will be held, during which children from Lubin schools will present interesting scenes concerning the safety of older people. Seniors will be able to learn how scammers operate and how to react in order not to become their victims.

These activities are carried out in cooperation with the Senior Day Centre in Lubin and the Muza Cultural Centre.
