The meeting will take place on Saturday, April 23, at 4:00 p.m. The guest will be the author of the first master’s thesis on “The Settlement of Poles from Yugoslavia in Bolesławiec County.” Admission is free.

Immediately after the meeting, there will be a screening about the Balkan story of Romeo and Juliet, shown during the world’s largest festival-marathon of brass bands, “Guča! – A Trumpet Duel.”

The project “Saving from Oblivion – 70 Years Since the Return of Poles from Bosnia” is co-financed by the Municipality of Bolesławiec through a call for proposals supporting the implementation of public tasks by non-governmental organizations and other entities authorized to operate in the public-benefit sphere in 2016. It continues the project launched last year as a series of open meetings whose aim is to convey our history to younger generations in an engaging way. In connection with the anniversary falling in 2016, the meetings are being held as anniversary events. There will be five separate meetings. Their format will vary: lectures, book promotions, and presentations of historical materials and publications. Our guests, in succession, will be: Tadeusz Jurkowski, Jan Bujak, Tomasz Jacek Lis, Anna Bober – Tubaj, and Marek Szajda. The meetings will take place from April to October at CIK “Orzeł,” with the support of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre.
