Female police officers from the Social Prevention Team of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin organized a self-defense course for women for the seventh time. Throughout March, twice a week, women from Lubin County could learn self-defense under the guidance of instructors from a Lubin Krav Maga school.
No one can predict when and where dangerous situations may occur. To prevent them and teach the course participants to anticipate situations, realistically assess threats and behave appropriately when they arise, the instructors tried to create conditions that were as realistic as possible. The women took part in classes held not only in the quiet of a gym, but also in a venue—a place with limited space, crowds, chairs and no possibility of quickly moving away from the attacker. There was also training on public transport and training... in high heels.
The course participants learned not only to react quickly, but also to assess threats correctly, defend themselves appropriately against an attack and use effective techniques in close contact with an opponent (activating sensitive points on the human body).
This year, two women from Wrocław specifically came to attend the “high heels” class. The women explained that they regularly attend self-defense classes, but only in a gym and only wearing sports shoes. They therefore wanted to find out whether they would be able to defend themselves while wearing high heels.
The latest course was held with the support of the Lubin County executive, who financed the classes and, for the seventh time, granted the campaign honorary patronage. Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Miejskiej w Lubinie, a shopping mall and one of the catering establishments also joined the initiative.
