Officers from the Criminal Department of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin, as a result of operational activities, shut down three car chop shops. The officers had been working on the case for some time. After confirming the information they had gathered, over the course of the past few days they successively entered properties in the Lower Silesian and Greater Poland voivodeships, securing components from stolen cars.

In each case, preliminary identification confirmed that the parts came from cars stolen in Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. Officers arrested three residents of the Greater Poland voivodeship, aged between 21 and 27, who specialized in stealing Audi, VW and Skoda cars.

Police findings indicate that after being stolen, the vehicles were taken to chop shops, where they were then dismantled for parts. At this stage, police have proven that the suspects committed seven car thefts and attempted three more. In addition, a 39-year-old Lower Silesian resident who was arrested also heard charges of fencing.

Lubin police officers are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of this criminal operation and do not rule out further arrests. Let us recall that breaking into a vehicle and stealing it is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, while fencing carries a sentence of up to 5 years.
