We explain the advantages and disadvantages of both ideas for arranging our windows.
Traditional curtains are generally considered a classic solution, while window-panel curtains are more of a modern interior-design feature. There is some truth in this, but it is worth remembering that both types of decoration can be arranged to suit any kind of interior and style.
Window-panel curtains
Window panels work particularly well in children's rooms and rooms smaller than a living room. They are quite striking in themselves and generally do not pair well with additional decorative elements, such as curtains. Therefore, choose window-panel curtains when your main goal is to cover the windows themselves, without extending across the rest of the wall. We can choose from completely plain models and very patterned ones. Among the designs, we can find numerous prints created with a young boy's or girl's room in mind. Remember that, unlike roller blinds or Venetian blinds, window-panel curtains are movable elements that can be easily removed, but they require specialist cleaning. As part of a kitchen or bathroom interior, they may therefore cause problems, since window decoration is most exposed there to negative factors such as moisture and dirt.
Traditional curtains
In the rooms mentioned above, curtains are an ideal choice, including smaller versions such as café curtains or pelmets. Thin, delicate voile or organza curtains wash well and dry very quickly. Curtains generally give an interior a cosy character. So if we want to warm up a space in an overly large living room or rooms decorated in a cool, minimalist style, curtains will be a much better choice than window panels. This type of window decoration also works excellently with all kinds of accessories, as well as swags or draperies, sometimes creating a very interesting, entirely separate element of the interior design.
