The Easter Vigil liturgy is the most important celebration in the Liturgical Year. According to a very old tradition, the night preceding Easter Sunday should be a vigil. The faithful, obedient to the admonition of the Gospel (Lk 12:35 ff.), hold lit candles in their hands. All the rites of the Easter Vigil take place at night: they may not begin before nightfall and should be completed before dawn on Sunday.

This was also the case in the Parish of Christ the King in Bolesławiec. The liturgy began in the evening. Its culmination was a procession of the faithful around the church, accompanied by the sound of loud bells.
