On Saturday (12 March), at the sports hall on Jana Pawła II Street in Bolesławiec, BTS Bolesławiec volleyball players hosted the league leaders, Siatkarz Bierutów. The match between the leaders and the runners-up promised to be extremely interesting. It also attracted a sizeable number of supporters.

In Bolesławiec, the visitors confirmed that their position in the table was no coincidence. Bierutów won the first set 25–21. The second set ended similarly, 25–22. The first two sets could be described as BTS chasing the score. The Bolesławiec team fought ambitiously and repeatedly levelled the score, but the visitors controlled the closing stages of the sets.

The Bolesławiec team started the third set very well. Unfortunately, they were unable to maintain their several-point lead, and the visitors ultimately sealed the victory by winning the set 25–21. BTS Bolesławiec – Siatkarz Bierutów 0:3 (21:25, 22:25, 21:25).

– Bierutów took the match against us very seriously and arrived with their strongest squad, including players with experience in PlusLiga and the I liga; among them was Radosław Rybak, a 46-time Poland international, comments Jacek Łuczkowski, president of the Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie. – These volleyball players may no longer play at the highest level, but they retained the experience and match sharpness that showed in the closing stages of the individual sets. That is why Siatkarz Bierutów won.

– The captain of the Bierutów team, Sławomir Kudłaczewski, admitted after the match that BTS Elektros had set the bar high for them and that the match had not been a walk in the park – the BTS president continues. – Our team also deserves praise for not being intimidated by its opponents. The result could have been better, but at the start of the first set our outside hitter, Paweł Kozłowski, who, incidentally, had been selected as MVP in recent matches, suffered an injury.

J. Łuczkowski also thanked the supporters. – They behaved brilliantly – he emphasises. – Although the result was unfavourable for us, they applauded both teams.
