Last weekend saw the first of two final tournaments in the third sports bridge league. The six best teams from the regular season played the first series of matches against one another, competing for promotion to the second league. The bridge players from Bolesławiec representing Prnjavor put in a truly fantastic performance. Entering the final phase as the leaders, our team won all five matches, decisively defeating every opponent.

The tally of 119 match points is not only a club record but also a record for the entire league, and it seems very unlikely that anyone will surpass it. Our team defeated, in succession: AZS Politechnika VII Wrocław 25–2, Zdrowie Kudowa 25–2, ODK Jelenia Góra 24–6, Piast Lubań 25–5, and Turbo Wrocław 20–10.

Before the final tournament, Prnjavor’s lead over the second-place team, Turbo Wrocław, is so substantial—78 points—that it is fair to speak of second-league bridge in Bolesławiec. Throughout the season, the following players appeared in all the matches played: Jarosław Molenda (team captain), Jerzy Olenderek, Antoni Ochot, and Artur Winkler. Jacek Rutowicz, Andrzej Kaźmierczak, and Marek Drecki also played.
