The award is presented to institutions, social organizations and individuals for particularly active involvement in commemorating the history of the Polish Nation between 1939 and 1989, as well as for public activities consistent with the statutory objectives of the Institute of National Remembrance. The winners are selected by a chapter headed by the president of the IPN. The award is honorary, and its recipients receive the title of Custodian of National Memory.

All those interested are encouraged to complete the award application and send it by 10 March to the email address kustosz@ipn.gov.pl. The application should include the candidate’s personal details, a description of their merits and achievements justifying the award, as well as the candidate’s consent to the nomination (or, in the case of posthumous candidates, the consent of the immediate family). When nominating oneself, at least one recommendation from an institution, social organization or individual must be submitted.

Five winners will be selected from among the submitted nominations. The award ceremony will be held in May this year at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.

Further information about the award is available from Piotr Sieczkowski, tel.: 22 581 85 53, email: piotr.sieczkowski@ipn.gov.pl.
