Councillor Dariusz Mucha spoke: “We said openly that we want to be able to go around the city, or walk around it. Please consider—as far as possible—the reconstruction of the footbridge in Zabobrze. We will be able to do Nordic walking and run, and the Bobrowa Trail will become longer.”
Mayor Piotr Roman stated that the city authorities feel a certain dissatisfaction resulting from their dealings with various institutions that “have different procedures, different decision-making processes and take a lot of time.” “As far as our personal relations with PKP are concerned, they are very good,” he noted. “We have repeatedly requested the possibility of reconstructing the footbridge over the Bóbr, and we will make such requests many more times.”
P. Roman also mentioned that a concept for the historical reconstruction of a pedestrian footbridge over the Bóbr River had even been prepared (its author is Kinga Pokojowy; we wrote about it in the article Winners of the competition for the best master’s or doctoral thesis).
“This is also a matter of the fact that PKP does not like anything located near the viaduct,” the mayor continued. “There was a proposal to build a hydroelectric power plant, and we also encountered a very firm position from the company’s authorities.”
D. Mucha clarified that he meant the now-defunct small suspension bridge directly adjacent to Zabobrze Street, connecting the city of Bolesławiec with the crossing to Bożejowice.
The mayor replied that the hydroelectric power plant was the most important issue for him. Of the two aforementioned footbridges, the one near the viaduct is more important. “I support it,” Piotr Roman added. “But perhaps not yet.”
