Recently, I was walking through the city streets during the Ceramics Festival and noticed that a sheet of metal was missing from the cladding of the town hall tower’s helmet (the dome above the lantern). I wonder whether this was caused by strong winds or deliberate conservation work, because if it was caused by severe weather conditions, the residents of the Market Square and passers-by may be at risk of injury or even loss of life.

Clearly, from the south-western and western sides, wooden beams and open space are visible instead of the metal cladding.

As it turns out, renovating the town hall tower’s helmet is one of the tasks included in the Bolesławiec City budget for 2016. Renovating the wooden structural elements and replacing the copper covering is expected to cost PLN 388,000.
