Female officers from the Bolesławiec police headquarters, at the invitation of the president of the Polish Association of the Blind in Bolesławiec, met with people with visual impairments.

During the meeting, they discussed scams involving the so-called grandson, a fake meter reader or a fake police officer, which have recently often affected elderly people and those living alone throughout the country.

During the talk, the police officers presented, among other things, the principles of safe behaviour while shopping and moving along roads, and also pointed out the dangers that blind and visually impaired people may encounter where they live.

The meeting participants willingly shared their observations concerning everyday threats. They drew attention to the need to equip pedestrian crossings with audible signals and to inform drivers about the appropriate response when interacting with a person using a white cane.

The beneficiaries of the Polish Association of the Blind were also reminded how important it is to use reflective elements.

At the end of the talk, the police officers gave reflective elements to the meeting participants. The meeting was held as part of the ABC of a Safe Senior preventive programme.
