We play because we want to and can, because it remains a privilege of our freedom and goodwill, and no one can forbid us from doing so! We play because during its 23 years of activity, the WOŚP Foundation has purchased medical equipment worth nearly PLN 650 million! That is why we play and encourage those who think alike—let’s play together!

The 24th finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is already ahead of us. This time, we are raising money to purchase medical equipment for pediatric wards and to ensure dignified medical care for seniors.

As in previous years, the Zgorzelec finale, organized by MDK Zgorzelec and dozens of big-hearted people, will take place at CHR Plaza on Armii Krajowej Street on Sunday, January 10.

The fun will begin at 2 p.m. There will be artistic performances, orchestra stalls with baked goods and handicrafts, as well as an auction of items donated to the orchestra.

You will find the details of the finale on the poster, but if we could recommend something special, we recommend:

  1. The 1st Zgorzelec “Count Yourself with Diabetes” Run. It will be possible to run in two ways: traditionally and, however unusual it may sound, in place. Everything is supervised by the Edi Team Running Association and Fitness Club O2. Specifically, at the WOŚP Finale site in CHR Plaza, O2 Fitness Club will provide treadmills, and anyone interested will be able, between 2 and 8 p.m., to run their own distance on them, adding their kilometers to the total number of kilometers run that day by all participants. Note: Appropriate clothing and sports footwear are required.
The traditional run is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Participants will have 2.3 km to cover. They will set off from the stage at CHR Plaza, pass through the roundabout along Armii Krajowej Street toward the city center, turn into Batory Street, continue along Boh. II Armii Wojska Polskiego Street and, via the site of the former “large market,” return to Armii Krajowej Street, following it to the finish line located exactly where the start is, by the stage at CHR Plaza.
Before they set off, at 3:30 p.m., the official opening of the “Count Yourself with Diabetes” run is scheduled, followed by a warm-up led from the stage by instructors from Fitness Club O2
  2. On January 10, the day of the 24th WOŚP Finale, a special bus from the Regional Blood Donation and Blood Treatment Center in Wałbrzych will park by CHR Plaza. Anyone willing will be able to support others with what they have most precious—their own blood. The ambulance will receive blood donors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  3. During the finale, Natalia Chwiedziuk, a student at the Complex of Vocational and General Secondary Schools named after the Turoszów Miners and Energy Workers, will attempt to establish a Guinness World Record for continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a mannequin. Although we do not know whether such a record will be recognized, we are undertaking this challenge because the Guinness Book of Records does not yet contain such an achievement :).
The attempt will begin at 3 p.m. and, if everything goes well, will end at 8 p.m. During it, the young people and their supervisor intend to auction each successive minute of resuscitation. A sponsor has already been found who has declared PLN 1,000 (one thousand zlotys) for the orchestra’s collection box for the first hour of this unusual rescue effort.

Best regards, and we look forward to seeing you!

Janusz Pawul

P.S. Items for the orchestra auctions can be left at the Municipal Cultural Center in Zgorzelec at 1 Parkowa Street (during the morning hours at the MDK secretariat, and in the late afternoon and evening at the reception desk). We will be extremely grateful for all donated items, but we appeal to donors to submit for auction objects that have a chance of finding buyers.
