One of the items on the agenda of the December session of Bolesławiec City Council was a presentation of the 2016 budget proposal. During it, President Piotr Roman, while discussing issues related to Bolesławiec’s debt, addressed the councillors:

Please do not treat these calculations dogmatically. Because if, for example, an opportunity arises to purchase the PKS bus station, I will urge you to take out a loan and buy the station so that it can continue to serve as a bus station for the next few years, until a transport interchange is built.

The president added that “such an offer was submitted to the PKS president.” He stressed: – As you know, the station was not sold [o sprawie pisaliśmy m.in. w materiale Powiat sprzedaje dworzec za 3,4 mln zł. Będzie tam kolejne centrum handlowe i... dworzec – przyp. „ii”].

– The plan is as follows – P. Roman continued – if we manage to buy it, we would like it to be a bus station for all carriers, not just one. The decision to municipalize PKS was wrong because it maintained one carrier’s monopoly, while we have many of them in Bolesławiec. However, due to the prohibitive price that was proposed, private carriers do not enter the PKS bus station and have created an unofficial bus station across Zgorzelecka Street. If we buy the PKS bus station, we can ensure access for all carriers. What would this lead to? Greater competition, better service for passengers and the elimination of the unofficial bus station known as Sajgon on Zgorzelecka Street.

We will return to the subject.
