It was established that the crimes took place between 19 and 22 December 2015 in Kopaniec and Jelenia Góra.
On 19 December 2015, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Adrian B. and Mariola P., together with two men who have not yet been identified, arrived at the guesthouse run by the victim. There, Adrian B. grabbed the guesthouse owner and began strangling him, demanding PLN 2,000. Together with the other perpetrators, he also threatened him with murder, assaulting his partner and kidnapping his child.
Fearing that these threats would be carried out, the victim handed over the demanded amount to his attackers. As he was leaving, Adrian B. stated that from then on the victim would pay him protection money. The perpetrators threatened their victim that if he notified the police of the incident, they would return and burn down his house.
On 21 December 2015, Adrian B. called the victim again and demanded PLN 400. Fearing the aforementioned man, the victim went to a Shell petrol station in Jelenia Góra. There, he handed the demanded amount to Mariola P. and Adrian B.
The following day, Adrian B. called the victim once again, this time demanding PLN 1,000. Seeing that the perpetrators would not leave him alone, and despite fearing for his life, the victim notified the police.
Police officers decided to arrest the criminals in the act. Therefore, they went with the victim to the place where he was supposed to hand over the money to the perpetrators. When the victim handed the demanded cash to Adrian B. and Mariola P., police officers entered the scene and arrested them.
The aforementioned individuals do not admit to the charges against them.
At the request of the District Prosecutor in Jelenia Góra, the local District Court ordered pre-trial detention for the suspects.
They face between 2 and 12 years in prison for the alleged offenses.
Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the two remaining perpetrators of the robbery committed against the victim on 19 December 2015.
