The holiday period, as every year, is characterized by increased traffic, which is why there were more police patrols on roads throughout the country. Police operations began on December 24.

Zgorzelec police officers paid particular attention to, among other things:

  • speed
  • drivers’ sobriety
  • the use of seat belts by drivers and passengers, as well as how children were transported
  • the technical condition of vehicles.

This year’s Christmas holidays passed very calmly on the roads of Zgorzelec County. Over the four-day period (December 24–27), there were no road accidents. Most importantly, no one was killed or injured on the roads of Zgorzelec County. There were, however, 10 collisions.

Police officers checked nearly 300 drivers. It turned out that one woman driving a passenger car in Pieńsk was under the influence of intoxicating substances. Police officers also detained three passenger-car drivers who were subject to court-imposed bans on driving.
