Chairman of the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly Paweł Wróblewski and Deputy Marshal of the Voivodeship Ewa Mańkowska, in the presence of regional councillors Jacek Pilawa and Zbigniew Szczygieł, honored 70 activists whose attitude and activities are transforming our region.

Among those honored were also four residents of Bolesławiec and Bolesławiec County.

The Gold Honorary Badge “Distinguished Service to the Lower Silesian Voivodeship” was awarded to:

  • Zygmunt Brusiło, a popularizer of knowledge about the region and co-author and author of numerous regional publications, particularly about Bolesławiec and Lower Silesia, as well as the partner city in Germany, Siegburg. He has been a PTTK guide and popularizer of sightseeing knowledge since 1967. He serves as President of the Society of Bolesławiec Enthusiasts
  • Waldemar Nalazek, a long-standing local government official. Since 1993, he has served as head of Osiecznica Municipality, which has repeatedly received awards in competitions concerning environmental protection and infrastructure development

The Silver Honorary Badge “Distinguished Service to the Lower Silesian Voivodeship” was awarded to:

  • Piotr Hetel, founder of the “Bolesławianka” Housing Cooperative in 1965, an activist in the cooperative movement and co-creator of Cooperative Law
  • Senior Warrant Officer Bogdan Fiałkowski , an activist and vice-president of the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Commando Company. He cooperates with military units and crisis management services of local government bodies

The Honorary Badges “Distinguished Service to the Lower Silesian Voivodeship” have been awarded since 2012 to individuals and organizations active in local communities. They are conferred by resolution of the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly, at the request of the Chairman of the Assembly and on the basis of a recommendation from a commission specially appointed for this purpose. The badges express special recognition and appreciation for contributions to the development and promotion of Lower Silesia at home and around the world.
