On 22 December, the handover of these police cars to Legnica police officers took place in the courtyard of the Municipal Police Headquarters. Symbolically, the mayor, Tadeusz Krzakowski, handed the keys to one of them to the head of the Legnica preventive police unit, senior inspector Zbigniew Prych.
“On behalf of the residents and myself, I wish that these police cars serve to improve the safety of the people of Legnica,” the mayor said. “I am very pleased that this purchase has been completed.”
Deputy Commander of the Municipal Police Headquarters, junior inspector Marcin Wysocki, stressed that local governments have cared about the safety of residents for years: “We greatly appreciate the assistance and support we receive from the city and municipalities,” he said.
The police cars were purchased as part of the Police Support Fund. Local governments covered half of the purchase costs. Legnica co-financed nine vehicles, while the remaining ones were co-financed by Legnickie Pole, Kunice and Prochowice. The Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters currently has approximately 70 police cars.
