Lower Silesian police officers will ensure the safety of everyone travelling on the roads of our province during the holidays and, whenever necessary, facilitate the flow of traffic. Both marked and unmarked patrols, equipped with devices for measuring and recording speed, will be on duty on the region’s roads during this time. The operations will also be carried out in cooperation with officers from other services.
While carrying out their official duties, police officers pay particular attention, among other things, to:
- speed
- drivers’ sobriety
- the use of seat belts by drivers and passengers, as well as how children are transported
- the technical condition of vehicles
- the use of reflective elements by pedestrians.
The holiday period is also a time of intensified activity by preventive police officers, who carry out their duties to ensure public order and counter threats and negative phenomena, including in places with heavy traffic. Officers pay particular attention, among other things, to hooligan behaviour and socially disruptive crimes and offences.
During the holidays, let us remember to properly secure our houses and apartments while we are away. The officers also appeal to everyone planning to travel during this time to set off sufficiently early. “For those facing a long journey, we advise taking more frequent breaks and resting,” police officers say. “Of course, we should always stop in safe places. Let us avoid secluded and isolated locations.”
As we sit at the holiday table with family and friends, let us also pay attention to whether someone close to us who has been drinking alcohol plans to drive a car that day or the next. “We must also remember that in December changing weather conditions can take us by surprise at any moment, which is why we appeal to all drivers to drive calmly and sensibly and, above all, in accordance with the regulations,” the officers add.
