At the beginning of January, a meeting of the presidents of clubs participating in Rugby 7 competitions was held in Wisła. Bolesławiec was represented by TOP Bolesławiec president Robert Tomczyk and TOP Husar Bolesławiec team coach Jakub Lisiewski. During the meeting, the eight best teams in Poland that will play in the Rugby 7 Ekstraliga were selected.
TOP Husar will play in the Ekstraliga!
A pleasant surprise for both the TOP president and the coach of the Bolesławiec team was the selection of TOP Husar Bolesławiec for the Ekstraliga competition. The Bolesławiec team had been competing in rugby for only its first season, so no one expected our team to be selected for this elite group of competitions. President Robert Tomczyk was even more surprised when none of the presidents of the other clubs objected to TOP's participation in the elite competition.
"You could say that we were very lucky, but this is the achievement of the entire team, which showed excellent and ambitious play in the league, ultimately finishing seventh among 49 teams from across Poland," says Robert Tomczyk. "The coaches of the team, Jakub Lisiewski and Robert Szewczuk—a former Poland international—naturally deserve the greatest credit for this nomination, because they trained such outstanding representatives of our city," adds Robert Tomczyk.
The Bolesławiec team's promotion to the Ekstraliga was also influenced by a league tournament organized by TOP players in Bolesławiec, which was one of the best-organized events in Poland. This was emphasized during the meeting by Rugby Union President Marek Wiśniowski. TOP Husar Bolesławiec will compete in Group I–South, alongside AZS AWF Katowice, Bialo-Czarni Nowy Sącz and Nowa Huta Kraków.
Tournament dates

- 7 June – Kraków
Rugby 7 Ekstraliga matches to be broadcast on Polsat Sport?
The rugby club presidents also met with representatives of Sport Mega Marketing Agency. They discussed cooperation with clubs and the promotion of Rugby 7 competitions on television. The agency is interested in broadcasting rugby matches, for example via Polsat Sport. Whether this plan is realized will depend on the officials of the individual clubs and the authorities of the respective cities. The main issue concerns the requirements set out in sponsorship agreements, which the clubs will have to meet.
