Representatives of Zagłębie Lubin’s marketing department and first team travelled to Ocice to introduce the history and current operations of their club. The meeting was hosted by Natalia Duda and Marcin Magda, while the special guests were top-flight and Polish national-team players in various age categories: Adrian Błąd and Filip Jagiełło. More than 120 pupils from the Jerzy Kukuczka Primary School in Ocice and the invited schools—Gimnazjum in Nowogrodziec, Gościszów Primary School, Parowa Primary School and Żeliszów Primary School—took part in the meeting.
This extraordinary event began with a multimedia presentation introducing those gathered to the club’s history. The hosts also discussed the evolution of the club logo and explained the symbolism of its elements. Clips from Zagłębie Lubin matches were also shown, but from the coaches’ bench perspective, which was particularly fascinating because supporters rarely have the opportunity to see everyday football from behind the scenes.
Another equally anticipated part of the event was a conversation with the first-team players—Adrian Błąd and Filip Jagiełło. The athletes spoke about the emotions that accompany them every day in the football world and explained how their adventure with the sport began. With great precision, as befits footballers, they answered the many questions asked by the pupils. And the pupils were exceptionally inquisitive…
The next part of the meeting consisted of general fitness demonstrations for 30 pupils, conducted by the invited footballers. The fitness section ended with a small-sided game in which the watching pupils, supported by Adrian and Filip, could feel like real league players. Pupils who wished to do so could actively participate in this unusual physical-education lesson. There were also gifts: Zagłębie Lubin club merchandise, including signed posters and autographs on balls and shirts, which were given to the participants. The opportunity to take a photo with the footballers was particularly popular.
The guests from Zagłębie Lubin also received souvenirs from the Jerzy Kukuczka Primary School in Ocice—mugs with the Bolesławiec Municipality logo, Bolesławiec pottery, handmade Christmas cards and commemorative Christmas decorations. They expressed their sincere thanks for the invitation and their admiration for the scale of the activities and initiatives taking place at the school. The pupils of the Jerzy Kukuczka Primary School had the honour of escorting the Zagłębie Lubin and Górnik Zabrze players in the final matchday of this autumn, which will take place on 18 December, so the departing guests said goodbye with the words: “See you soon!”
This was already the second visit by guests from Lubin to the Primary School in Ocice. They left their youngest supporters club badges, a shirt and posters. Yet the most important things were dreams awakened and a powerful dose of motivation to cross further boundaries. We consistently wish exactly that for our pupils.
