The event was held as part of the nationwide All of Poland Reads to Children campaign. The school’s coordinator was Monika Grzyb, while BOK-MCC’s organizer was Urszula Frąszczak-Matyjewicz.
The special guests, namely the Santas who read to the children, were Dariusz Filistyński, chair of the Economic Development and Finance Committee of the City Council; Łukasz Jaźwiec, chair of the Education, Culture and Sport Committee; and Kornel Filipowicz, deputy mayor. The Santas read “A Christmas Carol,” based on a story by Charles Dickens, and “The Twelve Travellers” by H. C. Andersen to children from classes I c, I d and II c.
The children were cared for by their teachers, Beata Wysocka, Monika Grzyb and Beata Czeladka. The Santas created a festive and wintry atmosphere for the children, stimulating their imaginations with beautiful reading. Adults and children from outside the school also joined the audience. The readers received certificates of appreciation, while the children received sweets, All of Poland Reads to Children stickers and leaflets about the importance of reading. We are pleased to have taken part in this event. We often read to our children because listening to fairy tales and folktales develops the mind and stimulates the imagination.
