Over seven hours, 20 group-stage matches and two placement matches were played in the sports hall of the I Liceum Ogólnokształcące. The tournament was won by the KP PSP team from Zgorzelec, who defeated the firefighters from Lubin 2–0 in the final. Third place went to the debutants from Głogów, who beat last year’s champions from Złotoryja 3–0.

Both the top teams and the somewhat weaker representatives received cups (the three top places), certificates, material prizes and commemorative photographs.

An unwritten tradition of the tournament is the exchange of small gifts brought by the invited teams (after all, it is a St Nicholas Day tournament). The categories for which gifts are awarded are invented on the spot. This year, 10 sets of Christmas baubles from Złotoryja went to police officers (because they are closest to baubles). Firefighters from Jelenia Góra received a prize from the brewery in Lwówek (because they had the most fun). Balls from Lubin went to Bolesławiec (to the fire service and police) because “the lads still have a lot to learn” (see the table on the Bolesławiec KP PSP website). Invitations from the Jelenia Góra firefighters to visit Huta Julia went to all the teams. What is more, the firefighter whose birthday was on 4 December received a tablet as a birthday present—he insisted that he would give it to his daughter (supposedly from St Nicholas).

There were more St Nicholas figures in the hall this year. For example, one player from Jelenia Góra won sports shoes in the lottery and gave them to a teammate (because that teammate is almost retired). And even those were not all the gifts handed out for St Nicholas Day.

More about the 17th St Nicholas Day Indoor Football Tournament for Fire Services, held on 4 December in the I LO sports hall in Bolesławiec, can be found on the website of the Bolesławiec District Headquarters of the State Fire Service.
