On 27 November 2015, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers noticed a Renault Clio on Mostowa Street in Jelenia Góra. The vehicle stopped at a traffic light and... had no rear registration plate. The officers decided to stop it for a roadside check. However, the man did not respond. On the contrary: he began to flee.
The officers pursued him, and shortly afterward additional patrols joined the operation. During the escape, the man committed a series of traffic offences, creating a danger to other road users. He repeatedly ignored traffic lights, drove against the flow of traffic, reached 100 km/h in an area with a 20 km/h speed limit, and overtook on a double solid line.
The officers detained him on Drzymały Street in Jelenia Góra, where the man attempted to escape on foot.
The driver turned out to be a 22-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra. Two female passengers, aged 16 and 17, were also travelling in the car. The driver did not have a driving licence or any vehicle documents. In addition, he had no rear registration plate, while the front plate belonged to another vehicle.
It turned out that the main reason for the escape was that the man had failed to return from furlough to the prison where he was serving a sentence. He had 1.5 years remaining.
For the offences he committed, the officers assigned him 68 penalty points. The vehicle was towed, and after the necessary procedures the driver was returned to prison. He will face the court for the offences committed.
