The aim of the “Regional and Local Dimension of Polish Foreign Policy – GLOKAL” project is to increase knowledge of foreign policy among young people from Lower Silesia and enable young people to establish dialogue with representatives of government, business and culture. It is being implemented in response to the need to organise more international youth initiatives (based on the report “The Needs and Problems of Young People – 2014”). The meeting in Bolesławiec was another in a series of thirty regional conferences held in all counties of Lower Silesia.

The conference was opened with words of encouragement to participate actively by a representative of the Semper Avanti Association, who explained the aim of the project and the event itself. Łukasz Osiński, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Central Europe, Łukasz Osiński presented examples of the international activities of businesses, the importance of international contacts and the subject of Polish foreign policy. The next part of the meeting consisted of workshops concerning tools and opportunities for international activity, including youth exchanges, the Eurodesk European information network and European Voluntary Service (EVS).

The part closest to young people was a discussion panel in which all participants took part. The aim of the discussion was to identify the priorities, needs and barriers to international cooperation, as well as to examine them in the local context in order to supplement the youth report on needs and problems.

A very important, and also final, part was the supplementary election of a councillor to the Lower Silesian Youth Parliament. Before voting began, the candidate appealed to voters, shared his ideas and spoke about the experience he had already gained. The representative of young people from Bolesławiec County was Korneliusz Rzeźwicki from II Secondary School in Bolesławiec. We warmly congratulate him and wish him much success in the activities of the Lower Silesian Youth Parliament.
