We wrote about the matter, among other places, in the article German investor to buy a plot from the city for over PLN 16 million gross and employ 600–800 people. German company Rhenus Logistics has purchased a plot of over 25 hectares in Bolesławiec’s economic subzone. A logistics centre will be built there. The notarial deed was signed on Friday, 27 November, in the Council Chamber.

Piotr Roman: “We have great hopes for this investor because this industry is one of the fastest-growing. The company has declared investment expenditure exceeding PLN 81 million and the employment of at least 200 workers.”

He added: “In the near future, we will approach the province marshal to accelerate efforts related to the construction of the northern section of the eastern bypass, namely the link between the roundabout beyond Łąka and the roundabout in Kruszyn. We have a chance for the Bolesławiec facility to become one of the more important centres of this type in Poland.”

Marcin Bartosz, Rhenus Logistics’ general director, spoke about what led the company to choose Bolesławiec:

This is not an accidental location. We considered many criteria. One of the most important was the geographical location. We hope that we will be able to serve customers from both central and western Europe here.

The company also took into account the fact that there is an appropriately qualified workforce here, as well as the fact that “at no point did we, as the investor, feel that we would be left to fend for ourselves.”

If everything goes well, construction will begin in spring 2016, and the logistics centre itself should be ready in October.

What terms will Rhenus Logistics offer its future employees? “We are a company that, from the very beginning, has been guided by the principle of establishing long-term relationships with employees. We are not looking for forms of employment intended to circumvent the possibility of building such long-term relationships. I think an employment contract is the best way to build them,” said Marcin Bartosz. “As for the level of remuneration, thanks to the city authorities we had the opportunity to find out what the expectations are. We will certainly have to fit in with the expectations of the local labour market.”
