“16 Days Against Violence Against Women” is an international campaign to eliminate all forms of violence against women. The campaign will end on December 10, Human Rights Day. This date is not accidental—it symbolically emphasizes that gender-based violence is a violation of human rights. Its goal is to eliminate all forms of gender-based violence by:

  • raising awareness that gender-based violence is a violation of human rights
  • strengthening local structures working to prevent violence against women
  • building connections between local and international initiatives aimed at stopping violence against women
  • strengthening women’s solidarity around the world
  • creating tools to pressure governments to ensure that authorities fulfill their declarations to stop violence against women.

Zgorzelec police officers are also actively involved in the campaign. The officers will hold duty shifts both at the Zgorzelec Addiction Counseling Center and at the County Police Headquarters. Anyone interested will be able to obtain information about their rights.

It is worth emphasizing that women who have experienced violence, whether physical or psychological, can receive professional assistance from the police not only during the campaign. They can do so at any time by reporting to the nearest police unit or by calling the emergency numbers 997 or 112.
