On Saturday, November 14, the “Bolesławiec i okolice” hiking group, with the support of the “Wędrowiec” Regional Tourism Association, organized an outdoor event called “Cinema with a Bonfire” in a clearing near the grain elevators in Bolesławiec. Around 40 people attended. Spicy barszcz and grilled sausages warmed up the chilly evening. More about Saturday’s gathering can be found on the Facebook profile: Bolesławiec i okolice
- We are a volunteer association operating in Bolesławiec and the surrounding area. We invite residents to meetings, Nordic walking, or simply recreational hiking trips. The association runs the open “Bolesławiec i Okolice” hiking group, made up of local residents who joined by chance – says Rafał Kotlarski from the “Wędrowiec” Regional Tourism Association.
Who can join?
To take part in hikes, trips, or other events organized by STR “Wędrowiec” in the “Bolesławiec i Okolice” group, there is no need to become a formal member. Comfortable shoes, willingness, and enthusiasm for hiking and discovering interesting places in Bolesławiec and nearby towns are enough. Hikes usually take place on selected Saturdays. Nobody needs to be convinced of the benefits of walking. It is enough to mention picturesque landscapes, forest paths, and the health benefits of hiking. It is also an excellent form of recreation and relaxation available to virtually everyone.
A little history
The idea of establishing the association occurred to Rafał Kotlarski and Przemysław Bielawski during one of these hikes. At first, they hiked with family and close friends, but from 2005 onward, the number of participants gradually began to grow. The organizers invited people to hikes through announcements. An informal group of around 30 people was formed, and that is how it all began. The group was named “Bolesławiec i Okolice.” The “Wędrowiec” Regional Tourism Association was subsequently established.
