– I have been interested in collecting since primary school. I was born with this passion and want to share my treasures with others. That is why I decided to organize an exhibition – says Marek Jaśkiewicz.

The exhibited objects include, above all, historical artifacts connected with Lower Silesia and Rudna municipality. The exhibition features, among other things, a railway wagon identification plate from 1924, a sign from a bridge over the Kwisa River that no longer exists, a sign from the railway station in Queissen (Gwizdanów) made by Max Schotz-Breslau, as well as a milk churn from the Gwizdanów area dating from the 1930s. Visitors can also see an antique wooden cheese press, hunting trophies from Lower Silesia dating from the early 20th century, 17th-century door fittings, antique wooden folk clogs from France, everyday objects, and brass and pharmacy vessels from Rudna dating from the early 20th century.

Marek Jaśkiewicz’s collection also includes gasoline lamps used for brazing and a carbide mining lamp for detecting methane, originating from a Silesian mine, as well as old photographs and documents. The exhibition also features the Atlas of the World – printed in Głogów by Flemming-Wiskott AG Glogau in 1923, an album from the 1931 Miss World competition, and even beer bottles from the first breweries in Lower Silesia.

– The true rarities of the exhibition are vessels from a cemetery dating back to 2500 BC and a commemorative cup bearing the likeness of Frederick William III, King of Prussia, from 1797 – Marek Jaśkiewicz points out. They are among the oldest exhibits in the collection.

The exhibition is already the 45th edition of the “People with Passion” project series, carried out by the Multimedia Information Centre. Marek Jaśkiewicz’s historical exhibits can be viewed until the end of December at the Library of the John Paul II School Complex in Rudna.
