Police received reports of the thefts from security employees at one of the companies (canisters containing diesel fuel were found on its premises).
Officers determined that at least four break-ins had taken place there, targeting the fuel tanks of heavy goods vehicles parked next to the company's headquarters.
Criminal investigators detained a 31-year-old resident of Bolesławiec suspected of committing these break-ins and attempting to steal fuel. The detainee admitted to the alleged offences and gave a statement. The man has previous property offences on his record.
He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
