From Friday to Sunday, the main police forces were concentrated on the roads. During those three days, there were 24 collisions; their most common causes were failing to keep a safe distance between vehicles and failing to adjust speed to road conditions. Fortunately, there were no accidents.

In addition, officers detained 2 drivers who were intoxicated. The police remind drivers that driving a vehicle while intoxicated or under the influence of a similarly acting substance may be punishable by up to 2 years’ imprisonment, a driving ban lasting several years and a heavy fine.

Officers also detained two drivers whose driving privileges had been revoked for exceeding the speed limit by at least 51 km/h in a built-up area, as well as one driver who was driving despite a court ban. This offense is punishable by up to 3 years’ imprisonment.

Traffic volume on the roads was very high during those days, but there were no serious disruptions. The increased number of city buses transporting residents to Jelenia Góra’s cemeteries helped ease traffic in the city, and once again the bypass proved useful for drivers heading toward Karpacz. Several drivers were fined for improper parking in the vicinity of cemeteries.

The safety of residents in our region was overseen by preventive-service, traffic and criminal investigation police officers. Municipal guards also supported the police operation. As a result, there were no serious incidents, either criminal or traffic-related.

It is worth emphasizing that this year drivers and pedestrians followed without exception the instructions of police officers overseeing safety around cemeteries and on the main transport routes of Jelenia Góra and Jelenia Góra County.
