We invite you to the newly established studio of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre-International Ceramics Centre for free art workshops, “Drawing from Nature and Imagination,” led by the renowned and highly regarded Bolesławiec artist Czesław Matyjewicz.
The classes are intended for adults and young people preparing to study art. The workshop programme includes drawing on a given theme, portrait drawing, figure drawing and still life. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 15:00 to 17:00 in the BOK-MCC art studio at 1c Piłsudskiego Square. Registration for the classes will take place on 3 and 10 November during class hours.
Since January 2015, Czesław Matyjewicz has led classes in the BOK-MCC ceramics and sculpture studio “Sculpture and Surroundings – Sculpture Design and Execution.” Classes are held on Sundays from 15:00 to 17:00.
Czesław Matyjewicz graduated from the State Higher School of Fine Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts), Faculty of Sculpture, in Wrocław. After completing his studies, he served as an assistant at the university’s Faculty of Sculpture. In the 1990s, he worked in stonework and conservation, initially at the Monument Conservation Workshop and later at the “GROSSULAR” company, which he co-founded. He participated in the restoration of the stonework decoration of Edith Stein’s chapel. From 1995 to 2005, he ran a sculpture and drawing studio at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre. During that time, he also served as commissioner of children’s and youth Ceramic and Sculpture Open-Air Workshops. He has participated many times in International Ceramic and Sculpture Open-Air Workshops. He has presented his work at numerous group exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Bolesławiec (BOK-MCC, Museum of Ceramics), Bolków (Castle), Český Krumlov, Kliczków (Castle), Kraków (Bunkier Sztuki), Książ (Castle Gallery), Legnica (BWA), Poznań (Castle), Warsaw (Ochota Cultural Centre), Wrocław (Ossolineum, Town Hall), Prague (Polish Cultural Institute), Dresden, Berlin (Polonia Haus), Nowogrodziec (Municipal Culture and Sports Centre), Parzyce (House of Creative Work) and Zgorzelec (Cultural Centre).
