– The response exceeded our wildest expectations – said President Piotr Roman during a meeting with the program’s partners, held on October 20 in the Council Chamber. – Thanks to the commitment and the number of people, institutions and companies that came forward to join the Bolesławiec Large Family Card, I believe the goal has almost been achieved.
– We want to promote large families – P. Roman continued. – To overturn the stereotype that sometimes persists in Poland: when a mother goes out with a large number of children, some people immediately think it is a dysfunctional family. The opposite is true. All the more reason why we should take especially good care of families that have decided to have more children in these difficult circumstances. Because the state’s family policy leaves much to be desired.
According to data from Statistics Poland, Bolesławiec has 360 families that meet the criteria entitling them to obtain the Bolesławiec Large Family Card and, consequently, various discounts. Details in the feature: Bolesławiec Friends of Large Families.
So far, 29 companies and institutions have joined the program. Bolesławiec City Hall is in talks with 10 more. Officials assure that the entire initiative will develop even further by the end of the year.
– We copied some ideas and looked at how things work elsewhere – the president explained during the meeting. – The nationwide Large Family Card is also beginning to produce results, because initially the range of discounts was very limited. Later, things improved considerably. We, in turn, are supplementing it with our own local ecosystem.
And he emphasized: – I hope this solution will also be adopted by the surrounding municipalities, because it is simply good. There are no apparent downsides to this solution.
