Their organizers were the district authorities of Jelenia Góra and Kamienna Góra. This year, a road traffic disaster was staged: at Przełęcz Okraj, a bus collided with a minibus, causing the vehicle to leave the road and end up in the forest; several people sustained injuries.
Two passengers, most likely of Arab origin, fled into the forest after the disaster. Police officers and Border Guard officers set off in pursuit.
The operation involved police officers, firefighters, rescuers, and environmental protection and crisis management staff from Jelenia Góra and Kamienna Góra. Police secured the scene of the road accident by establishing an operational zone; they ensured access for emergency services and detours for other road users. They also assisted in saving human lives. Firefighters cut trapped people out of the vehicle and secured the water tank, while paramedics provided first aid to the injured.
The exercises are intended to improve emergency services’ response in the event of a crisis, verify the practicality of the procedures adopted for such circumstances, prepare rescue services to respond to a land-traffic disaster under conditions similar to those in reality, test communication systems, and improve cooperation between the Crisis Management Centre and emergency services and inspectorates.
