The exhibition is an artistic transformation of photographs donated to the Municipal Library by the residents of Zgorzelec. It speaks about the personal aspects of life in our city. Undoubtedly, the audience’s attention is drawn to the preserved atmosphere of bygone days, anonymous faces and the city’s characteristic side streets. They contain a measure of nostalgic memories and reflections, a touch of smiles, and some pride in the road travelled and the hardships associated with the first years of Zgorzelec’s Polish identity.
The highlight of the evening will be the announcement of the results of a competition for a literary form of memories, true events and experiences, which received a strong and generous response. Twenty-three entries were submitted, each one a priceless record of Zgorzelec’s stories, sometimes even an artistic impression of life, human feelings and emotions. “You cannot be absent, dear Friends, Neighbours and Residents,” say the organisers of the event.
The meeting will take place in the gallery of the Municipal Cultural Centre (Parkowa 1) on Friday, 23 October, at 5 p.m..
