– I am very pleased that we can meet every year and that this is already our 14th meeting – Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski said in his welcome. In response, he heard thanks for the effort the mayor puts into the student exchange, which is very important for the French school. At the same time, representatives of the French teaching staff invited the mayor and Polish students to France.
– Following yesterday’s victory by the Polish national team over Ireland, we will play at Euro 2016 in France. Perhaps, on this occasion, Polish young people will be able to see this sporting event – the mayor said. The students from France congratulated the Polish national team with loud applause.
During the meeting, the French young people asked the mayor of Legnica many questions concerning the future of the European Union and Poland’s presence in the EU. They also asked, among other things, about relations between local-government authorities and the central government, relations between the state and the Church, the problem of immigrants, Poland’s entry into the euro area, and the city’s policy aimed at young people.
On the latter issue, the mayor stressed how important the voice of Legnica’s young people and listening to their needs are to him. – In Legnica, we have 50 educational institutions, including excellently prepared institutions for vocational education. All this is so that we do not train unemployed people. In addition, young people can use many cultural and sports facilities – added Dorota Purgal, deputy mayor.
