The people transported to the sobering-up centre were found in an abandoned building. The temperature at night fell below zero. Because the homeless individuals were intoxicated, it was not possible to place them in a night shelter.
Every night, officers check places where people without a roof over their heads may be staying. They inspect abandoned buildings, heating-system facilities, and the areas around railway stations, parks and allotment gardens.
The police also ask everyone to provide information about people who, during periods of falling temperatures, may find themselves in situations threatening their health and lives.
