On Saturday, the cadets faced KS Milicz. For most of our young players, it was their league debut, unfortunately ending in defeat. Bolesławiec lost 3:0 and, despite their willingness and efforts, were unable to match the team from Milicz. The Milicz players showed cohesion and experience gained in youth competitions. It was a first step; the longer the boys play and train together, the better they will perform.
BTS’s juniors began the season with an away match against KS Bielawianka Bester Bielawa. Before the match, the players were eager to avenge the previous week’s defeat to Bielawa at the Antoni Kuchciak Memorial in Legnica.
The first set looked promising. From the very beginning, the Bolesławiec players imposed their conditions, repeatedly breaking through the opponents’ block and defense with powerful attacks. BTS led for almost the entire set, but toward the end, as a result of a few minor unforced errors, the opponents equalized and then increased their point tally. The first and second sets were lost, while in the third, despite Bielawa’s substantial lead, the team managed to make up the deficit toward the end and “get back into the match.”
In the fourth set, the Bolesławiec players made a good start, gained a lead of several points and maintained it in a “point-for-point” battle. From the middle of the set, the Bielawa players woke up, and their determination to win on home ground became apparent. Once again, a moment of loss of concentration and several unforced errors crept into BTS’s play, and the entire match ended in a 3:1 defeat.
Nevertheless, we can look optimistically at our team’s performance. Despite the defeat, the players performed quite well, showing character and a will to win. On that day, the opponent was simply too strong, and our team needs to improve several minor elements that will determine the outcome in close matches.
