It will take place on 7 October at 4:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra at 43 Nowowiejska Street. Women interested in participating in the course will be able to register at the organizational meeting. Participation is free of charge.
Jelenia Góra police officers announce that another edition of the preventive program entitled “Safe in Her City” will begin on 12 October 2015. It is a self-defense course for women. The program aims to improve women's personal safety in our city. The honorary patronage of the program was assumed by the Mayor of Jelenia Góra, Marcin Zawiła. Participants aged 16 must have written parental consent to take part in the course.
The main aim of the self-defense course is to prepare its participants mentally and physically to avoid or, if necessary, repel a direct attack on life or health. Specialized classes can practically prepare anyone to repel an aggressive attack.
The classes are intended to improve the participants' overall physical fitness, teach simple and reliable hand-to-hand combat techniques, and increase legal awareness regarding the prevention of domestic violence and violence in interpersonal relationships.
The program includes lectures and self-defense classes led by a hand-to-hand combat instructor, presentations conducted by a criminal prevention specialist, as well as lectures and exercises led by a psychologist. A prosecutor from the District Prosecutor's Office in Jelenia Góra will also take part in the classes.
Practical classes will be held twice a week—on Mondays and Wednesdays—in the sports hall of the Inter-School Sports Centre on Maria Curie-Skłodowska Street in Jelenia Góra. A total of 10 90-minute sessions are planned.
All women interested in taking part in the course are invited to the organizational meeting on 7 October this year.
